Big Boss Suits Up Again in ‘Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain’

At Sony’s E3 press conference last night, a multitude of titles were shown and among them was the successor the recently released Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. With a spectacular trailer showing Snake’s pain and need for vengeance.

Following the events of what some considered an overpriced demo, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain finds Big Boss reawakening from his coma to bring vengeance on the ones that betrayed them. Kiefer Sutherland once again returns as the voice for Snake.

The trailer shows Snake in anguish over the loss of his comrades, as well as some fight scenes with the feeling that Snake almost wants to die. His old rival, Ocelot, makes a brief appearance as well, supervising soldiers’ training. Shots of Big Boss in combat continue until the end, where we see him and Kazuhira “Kaz” Miller making known their group’s name, Diamond Dogs.

The final segments reveal the birth of a Metal Gear, and a harrowed Big Boss under a new name, Venom Snake, with words in between them. “Tormented by Phantoms, Spirits of Ground Zeroes, Time for Retribution, Venom Awakens”.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released on Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, but still retains its tentative release date of 2015.
