‘The Magic School Bus’ Gets a 360° Makeover

Great news for 90’s kids and educational television geeks! According to the New York Times, Netflix has teamed up with Scholastic Media to make a reboot of The Magic School Bus.

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, said the original version of the show is “remarkably popular on Netflix.” That much isn’t too big of a surprise, knowing how nostalgic our generation can get–especially when you take into account the fact that many of us now have children of our own to share Ms. Frizzle’s adventures with.  “[The Magic School Bus] teaches science in a way that transcends generations,” Sarandos adds.

Ms. Frizzle

The Magic School Bus 360°, as it is currently set to be titled, will feature an updated bus, complete with new tools, such as robots or “a smart suit worn by the character Carlos that determines his body’s vital signs instantly,” said Deborah Forte, president of Scholastic Media.

Ms. Frizzle is also going to be receiving a makeover, as will the whole show–it’s going to be done in CGI! The season will be 26 episodes, a half hour each in length, and is set to premiere on Netflix in 2016.
