Sony Pictures Entertainment released the first trailer for the remake of the 1960 classic, The Magnificent Seven, boasting its star-studded cast.

The trailer gives a look Denzel Washington (Man on Fire, The Manchurian Candidate), Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World), and Vincent D’Onofrio (Law and Order:Criminal Intent, Jurassic World) getting their guns ready as they defend a small town from vicious theives.

Joining them are Ethan Hawke (Training Day), and Bryung-hun Lee (Terminator: Genisys) to add a whole new degree of action to the mix.

Peter Sarsgaard (Jarhead, The Slap) takes up the role of the villain, Bartholomew Bogue, known as Calvera in the original played by Eli Wallach. Haley Bennett (The Equalizer) was also signed on to play the role of Emma Cullen, widow of a man murdered by Bogue on whom she vows revenge.

Composer James Horner, known for his scores for Avatar, and Titanic, among others, was brought on to compose the movie, but tragically passed away in July of 2015. It wasn’t until later that the film’s director, Antoine Fuqua, learned that Horner had already finished the score. This will be the third, and final, score to be posthumously released by Horner.

Filming on the movie began on March 18, 2015 north of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, along with other filming locations including the towns of St. Francisville and Zachary, Louisiana. The film was originally scheduled to be released January 13, 2017, however Sony Pictures Entertainment moved it up into 2016.

Originally, The Magnificent Seven was a Western adaptation of Akira Kurosawa’s 1954 masterpiece, Seven Samurai. The film starred Yul Brynner and Steve McQueen, and is still considered one of the greatest Western movies in history.

From the trailer, the film looks to deliver the same magnificence that the original held and fires its way into theaters and IMAX on September 23.
