Iron Fist’s official trailer pummels it’s way to the public Danny Rand is here to kick ass and take names

Fans of Danny Rand are rejoicing around the world today as Marvel has released the official Iron Fist trailer. Rand is the fourth and final member to join Marvel’s upcoming Defenders series on Netflix.

Rand, played by Finn Jones, appears mysteriously in New York after he was thought to be dead for years. He was the sole survivor of the plane crash that killed his family. During this time, Danny was in the mystical city of K’un L’un, learning martial arts, and earning the right to the Heart of Shou Lao. The heart, belonging to a dragon of the same name, is what grants Rand’s power. Now he has returned to remove the evil permeating the city and his father’s company.

Rand is the only Defender to have visible powers compared to his cohorts. The best thing about each of these Netflix series’ is that the “heroes” are everyday people, everyday people’s whose abilities are dialed up to 11. As Rand harnesses his chi and the Heart of Shou Lao, his fists glow and can deliver devastating blows to his enemies.

Not mentioned by name in the trailer, but still equally exciting, is Colleen Wing, played by actress Jessica Henwick. Colleen’s presence was first announced in a “blink and you miss it” capacity during the final scene from last year’s Luke Cage, with her name appearing on a flyer he walked by for self-defense classes. In the comics, Wing teams up with the likes of Luke Cage, Misty Knight, and Danny Rand. With Colleen appearing in so many sequences (whilst unnamed), it is left to speculation how heavily her character plays in the story.

Also making an appearance in the trailer is Rosario Dawson’s character, Claire Temple. Claire has woven herself throughout the stories of Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones as well. She has become an ‘easter egg’ of sorts in these series, and it’s a fun task trying to find out when and where she’ll show up. Claire is the human element in all these shows, showing the viewer that anyone can be a hero.

The mysterious clan of ninja known as The Hand reappear as well, having been introduced in the second season of Daredevil. They are a formidable and seeming innumerable group that also has ties to the supernatural, creating an even eerier feeling.

With such a sonic boom of a trailer, all fans can do now is anxiously await the March 17 arrival date. Well, wait, and continuously rewatching the trailer to meticulously pick through frames that will give even just the slightest clue about plot.
