Thanks to Google’s Android Wear devices, Tinder users can now swipe, match, and chat to your hearts’ content, without ever having to pull out their smartphone.
On July 11, 2014 Tinder developers announced on their blog that the app is now compatible with Google’s smartwatch platform, stating “We’re proud to announce that Tinder is among the first applications available on Android Wear™. Get alerted of new matches, respond to messages, and get your swipe on while leaving your phone in your pocket. ” They also touted the platform, stating “Android Wearables are a perfect companion to Tinder, allowing you to meet new and interesting people nearby and communicate with your matches, all on the go.”
For those unaware, Tinder is a popular app that allows people an easy way to meet new people around them. Users can search for other Tinder users are nearby, and can swipe either right to “like” a profile, or left to “pass”. If both users “like” each other, they’re a match, and can choose to chat, learn more about them, or send photos. It’s quick, easy, and now pairs perfectly with Android Wear.
Since the smartwatches sport a smaller screen than a smartphone, the interface for Tinder is a bit limited on the Wear devices, but users can still see pictures, receive notifications, and basic information from a user’s profile. Once the app has been downloaded or updated, all you have to do is give the command “OK Google: Start Tinder” to your Wear device and just like that, you can swipe away!
The Tinder app for Android Wear is now available in the Google Play Store, along with the Android Wear devices themselves.
