LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens announcement trailer released After the game's leak, Warner Bros. officially announce new LEGO title

On February 2, a trailer for the newest LEGO video game LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens was released. The trailer for the game mirrors the trailer for the movie it is based on, with some slight changes.

Almost immediately, Finn chucks away a ringing alarm clock before he heads out into the desert of Jakku. BB-8 can be seen rolling along until it is tripped by a tiny sandcastle. The flickering lighting of the Stormtroopers’ transport is caused by one of them flipping a light-switch repeatedly. These, and many other instances throughout the trailer, add up to the classic humor now expected from the LEGO video games.

The trailer comes along with Warner Bros. Interactive’s official announcement of the game, which had previously leaked on the Xbox website. Like the numerous LEGO games that have come before, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens will feature notable locations from the movie it is based on, including Jakku and the Starkiller base. Players will also be able to swap between a number of playable characters, such as the film’s main trio of Rey, Poe, and Finn, as well as the main antagonist, Kylo Ren.

While these mechanics are typical of LEGO games, the newest installment will include a number of new features, such as Multi-Builds and Blaster Battles. According to the game’s description on Xbox.com,

“With Multi-Builds, use available LEGO bricks to open up new paths, then break them apart and re-build them again to open up another! And another! During Blaster Battles, use your surroundings as cover to stand against the First Order.”

Microsoft also revealed that the game will not only follow the storyline of the movie itself, but it will serve to bridge the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. This could possibly include more about what caused Kylo Ren to fall to the Dark Side, though nothing specific has been mentioned.

If so, players find out June 28th when the game is released on PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, the WiiU, and the Nintendo 3DS.
